I don't know if anyone as aware of this , but BBC4 have started a rerun at 8pm on thursdays nights , they screened the 1st of 13 episodes last week , i presume its everyweek at the same time , its the 1st series i believe, after Terry comes out of the army , over the years i have seen the odd episode here and there , it would be great to see them all .after all its worth it just to sing along to the theme tune

Thanks for that, another of my favourite shows. Didn't know it was on last week, but i'll be watching a few to come. Interesting to see how edited they are for racist / sexist / homophobic comments. Hopefully, because it's BBC4, they won't feel the need to snip it too much, i doubt they could get with showing it in it's entirety on either of the mainstream BBC channels.

Great show, i dont remember many racist and homophobic parts in the show.
No more than Porridge, which is never edited for todays repeats

The Likely Lads are on here starting the middle of May. I don't believe I've ever seen it. I'm sure it would have been on and not that we're that far behind down here!

This is me standing next to the Beehive pub near Earsdon where they filmed Bob and Terry leaving the pub to go back to the caravan.

"Can you remember where our caravan is, Bob?" :D

I was watching the episode last week (the one where they are trying to avoid the score of the England-Bulgaria game), and someone used the phrase "Jammy Arab", as used in AWP. I completely forgot that La Frenais and Clement also wrote Whatever Happened to the Likely Lads.

As for racism, homophobia, etc. there is a bit in the series, and the BBC haven't edited it out as far as I can see.

they showed the last 2 episodes back to back tonight , finishing when Bob got married , i have to say that i have thoroughly enjoyed the series , not having seen them before , i hope that they go on to show more , the interplay between Bob and Terry is great , its a shame to hear that apparantly they are no longer friends in real life , although who knows , that may just be the media story , all the same its a fine series , and the comedy still stands up , imo better than most of what we see nowadays .

Series 2 is now being shown. I don't know when it's on, though; I just spotted it on the iPlayer.

Great stuff. I know a lot of the tyneside location, an area where I work is just a field in the series, then streets in the film are now just fields!

I love the way Bob repeats his words: "I know, I know!" "Of course of course" "I told you, I told you! Can't remember the exact words he actually repeats but it's one of those things he does often.

It is very sad that Bolam won't bury the hatchet with Bewes. It all seems to stem from Bewes revealing publicly that when Bolam found out his wife Sue was having a baby he nearly crashed the car he was driving. Bewes thought this was public knowledge already, but it wasn't and Bolam hit the roof. It is also sad that this feud has affected other people as you hardly ever see repeats of 'The Likely Lads' on the BBC and this is having an effect on the other's finances. No one lives for ever so it would be nice if they did agree to let bygones be bygones.
