Re: Food in AP
This is a great thread, thanks for posting it. I've just thought of the rather unappetising curry at the Indian in Dusseldorf where Nev is the waiter, and the tastier looking Chinese when they are about to fly off to Spain and Moxey turns up at the last moment - it's making me hungry just thinking about it.
Re: Food in AP
Oz trying to remember a Chinese he had in Darlington, Wyman says look at the pictures, Oz says they're no good ,look like by- pass operations.
Re: Food in AP
Yep, that ruby looked very suspect, but sometimes, they're the tastiest. Nice glass of larger Oz has got toostaveley wrote: ↑Sat Sep 17, 2022 10:17 amThis is a great thread, thanks for posting it. And also agree that the Chinese before Spain looked good.

Haven't been able to find Oz and the rack of lamb toast yet, but some shots of Ally at the Crosskeys. Fiona, that's a Scottish name isn't it. Smooth talking F**kerMusta bin Elbowed wrote: ↑Fri Sep 16, 2022 7:22 pmIt's definitely marmalade on toast at Barry's. Like you I always find that scene hyponotic and find myself just watching Mox preparing his toast ("I reckon there's a perpetual backlog up there"). And then I always want to eat marmalade on toast myself.
Some great series two shots there, nice one! Also Oz eating his breakfast toast like it's a rack of ribs in the Barley Mow. And Ally living the high life at the Cross Keys (I need a little more horseradish Fiona...)

Stepping out of my comfort zone of Series 1 & 2 now. Recently watched Series 3 again and remembered Barry's eating binges. I wondered whether the catering cart was the crew's actual provider and just got used. Wouldn't mind having something like that to rock up to whenever I wanted.

It took me a little while to work out what was on Barry's sleeping bag in Cowboys. Looked like a bigmac. But then realised it was a pack of tea cakes that he's toasting on the fire and which the hobo pinches off him to dunk in his tea.

Re: Food in AP
Not sure if this is the incident of Oz and baked beans you were thinking of? I expect he's done it more than once, but this one is in good old Thornely Manner. I'd hazard a guess at Cross and Blackwell baked beans by the colour of the tin, unless it was ASDA own brand??Musta bin Elbowed wrote: ↑Thu Sep 15, 2022 3:39 amGreat thread! Oz and Dennis also have (presumably cheese and something) rolls on the ferry. They lived off them for that trip!
Two scenes immediately come to mind for me: Mox getting his banger warmed by Wayne's hairdryer (rubbish gag really but always makes me smile) and Oz eating beans out of the tin in his undies in the hut.
Moxey's face in the above pic where he's looking at Wayne's eggs is classic. He's really not liking that fried food is he?![]()

Re: Food in AP
The baked beans scene I'm thinking of is in Private Lives when he delivers the line "Well what's wrang with this place?!" - I think it's baked beans he's eating anywayTrevor wrote: ↑Thu Oct 27, 2022 6:05 pmNot sure if this is the incident of Oz and baked beans you were thinking of? By the way, that Indian restaurant in Germany is a strange place. Has anyone ever been served a curry like that before? I don't mean getting the wrong order, I mean the meal itself. They ask for four chicken curries and the guy brings out one large platter of rice with (the wrong) meat in it. Weird - were curries served like that in the 80s? I've been eating them since the early 90s and whatever the dish it's always had rice and curry in separate bowls, each diner with their own meal. Then again I've never ordered or even seen anyone order a prawn curry so maybe that's how they come - like a biryani ("I don't even know what that is in English") but without the side of veg curry.

Ah yes, you're right, Private Lives it was. Also a bonus of Oz persuading condensed/evaporated milk into his tea. Not sure if it's beans he's eating or not, but most likely. Bonus points if anyone can work out the German brand, although it might just by Heinz, colour looks about right.
No, never had a monster curry like that, but can see why they'd do it if everyone is having the same.

Gotta admit that cheese board at the Cross Keys is a sensation.
Re: Food in AP
Series 2 in Spain. Was watching Scoop the other day and this came up. All good fare and reasonable prices, which will be in pre-Euro potatoes
Think I'd go with eggs and chips
