Series 2 Unseen

Post by AlreetPal » Sat Apr 20, 2013 5:27 pm

Just found some old stuff of AWP and years ago I'd printed some stuff off the net about unseen scenes from series 2.

The scripts had to be re-written in parts to make the story work without Wayne. The first is at the casino.

Wayne and Moxey are sitting at the Black Jack table. Wayne is dealt 2 cards, looks at them and winces. Vicki walks past behind them, Wayne notices and turns to the croupier.

WAYNE: Fold

Wayne walks away leaving Moxey at the Black Jack table on his own. He walks over to the bar and stands next to Vicki.

WAYNE: Surprise, surprise. Your old man let you off the leash has he?

VICKI: No, me old mans kicked me out.

WAYNE: Oh dear, lovers tiff was it?

VICKI: With Ally it's always business. Hallwood's down there, and that's not for my ears.

WAYNE: Just aswell, you don't want to be bothering yourself with all that offshore tax shelter dialogue, what'll it be?

Wayne looks at Vicki's glass.

Bomber's attention is diverted to the bar. He picks up his chips and stands up.

OZ: Are you cashing in?

BOMBER: Business.

Bomber indicates to the bar area.

BOMBER: Vicki is Ally's girl, and Waynes Wayne, right?

OZ: Eh lad, he's like one of those wired-haired terriersisn't he, that keeps humping away at your leg.

Back at the bar, Wayne is well into his chat up routine, when Bomber's giant hands slap him on his shoulders.

BOMBER: Wayne me old dear.

WAYNE: (acing geniunely surprised) Oh hello Bomb.

BOMBER: It's your lucky night me old duck, those 2 travel agents have shown up. i think that Daphne's taken quite a shine to you. No problem there Admiral.

Bomber elbows Wayne sharply in the ribs.

WAYNE: What you on about?

BOMBER: (to Vicki) I love the way this lad comes on all innocent and naive.

Bomber pulls Wayne away from the bar, out of Vicki's earshot.

WAYNE: What's your game?

BOMBER: I'm protecting you from yourself Wayne, and the rest of us. That Vicki is private property.

WAYNE: I know that, do you think I'm an idiot or something?

BOMBER: No, I know you're an idiot.

Back at the bar Vicki is now sitting alone. Oz approaches the bar and makes eye contact with her.

VICKI: So that was the rescue was it?

OZ: Sorry?

VICKI: Howay, I'm not daft.

OZ: Look, we all know the way Wayne gans on, and he can be a bit out of order.

VICKI: Oh, he's not that bad. He just saw I was down in the dumps and just offered a bit of conversation. It's just his way of trying to get my pants off.

There are other missing scenes from series 2. I will post them later.

The following piece was filmed, but never made it to the final edit. This scene was cut from the episode 'Cowboys', and is just after Howard has arrived and spoken to Nev and Bomb.

Howard makes his way upstairs. Dennis is waiting to greet him.

DENNIS: Morning Howard.

HOWARD: Morning Dennis, (watching Oz working with exaggerated speed) Your lads are making good progress.

DENNIS: Canny workers, you see - that's why Ally choose them. We're running out of things to do though.

HOWARD: (Brandishing plans) That's where I come in, put some brains behind the brawn.

Down the landing Oz makes a 'wanker' gesture which Dennis spots. He glowers at Oz.

DENNIS: Right then Howard, come into my little office why don't you?

And he escorts Howard into the room and closes the door. Oz immediately stops work.

Another scene from the same episode is where Dennis first learns of the poor materials that they are to use.

DENNIS: Howard I'll tell you, I've got my reasons for working to Ally's orders, now I don't like what I'm doing, but I know exactly why I'm doing it. What's your excuse son?

HOWARD: I don't have to give to give you any justifications. Now can we get on please. (Unrolling technical drawings). Right, here's the preliminary drawings. The second stairwell stays put because the idea of a lift is too expensive.

DENNIS: So only the fittest OAP's can stay here right. (Angry). Bloody hell Howard, you better tell Ally next time you talk to him he's on thin ice with this one. What am I supposed to tell my lads when they rumble what he's upto?

HOWARD: That's your problem, sport.

Another cut was again in 'Cowboys' in the scene where Harry arrives.

Oz and Bomber are unloading the lorry.

OZ: What do you reckon Bomber, is this plaster-board early or late eighteenth century?

BOMBER: Looks like reproduction stuff to me Oz.

The next cut comes when Harry has just agreed to helpthe lads labour before meeting them. This scene also makes sense of the end of the episode where Dennis says to Harry, 'Thats why they call you monkey wrench.'

DENNIS: Good lad, we'll have a break soon and I'll introduce you to the rest of the lads.

As Harry is about to leave his truck there is a crackle from the CB radio. It is a woman's voice heard.

VOICE ON CB: Come in Monkey Wrench, do you copy?

HARRY: Oh hell, it's the wife.

DENNIS: Who's Monkey Wrench?

HARRY: That's my twenty, my call sign for the radio. She's Big Alice.

HARRY: (Leaning into the cab). Monkey Wrench calling Big Alice.

VOICE ON CB: You forgot your flask and butties again Monkey Wrench.

HARRY: Negatory, Big Alice, I've told you a million times before, I won't eat Spam sandwiches without mustard pickle. You forget it, I forgot them. Over and out.

DENNIS: I thought those CB's were supposed to improve communications.

HARRY: It's the only time we talk, Dennis. Come on Dennis let's get stuck in.

Dennis leads Harry over to the builders truck.

This scene is at the beginning of 'No sex please, we're brickies.' Following the fight at the manor, Ally arrives back in Newcastle. He pulls up in a taxi, and Big Baz (Baz has a large plaster on his nose.) comes out to greet him. The taxi driver gets out and opens the door for Ally.

ALLY: (Handing his bag over to Big Baz) Here, see if you can handle that without getting damaged. Is Hallwood here yet?

BAZ: Yeah, he's in your office waiting boss.

ALLY: (Looking at the state of Baz's face). You ever thought about buying shares in elastopast?

BAZ: (Looking puzzled). No. I'll get on to it first thing in the morning though.

Ally shakes his head and makes his way in followed by Big Baz.

There's a famous blooper scene where Barry is getting down off a delivery lorry and
he gets his Jeans stuck... this scene, done correctly never made it onto the final run
either did it ?

It's a shame they don't re-release series 1&2 on Blu-Ray, considering the crap that is always been remastered, surely it would sell well, with it being the 30th anniversary, and perhaps the bloopers and missing scenes added.
