Money is mentioned a few times in Pet:
Nev saying he could make £1000 in six months
Den owing Ally £6000
Oz winning £34000 quid on the lotto etc.
To understand what it meant at the time I found
this here site which shows the value of past amounts today. I'll let you see for yourself how much Den would owe Ally today etc

Anyone tried 87p?
I am sure many would love 'Today's Value' for a pint of Arthurs best!

Brilliant post and find. Puts series 1 and 2 into context when you realise how deep in debt Dennis was to Ally. And How much Oz spent on beer and bog roll at the little village store! Wonder what the trolley full of beer cost in Asda!?

In 1985 I was at school. Used to get 40p dinner money. Me & a couple of pals would pool our dinner money to buy 2 cans of Hofmeister & a bag of chips then drink them down by the canal. I think the cans were 30-something pence. And, by the way, we were 12 & looked it. I don't know what the shopkeeper was thinking of! Anything for a profit I guess...

Shall we say 40p a can?
Next time I'm at ASDA I'll get the right amount, plus the 4 cans of Guinness for wor Brendan which are plopped on top.
