Sammy Johnson's role

Post by Wal-NUFC » Mon May 27, 2013 5:40 pm

hello all,

another one from Mr Trivia ..

Why do I think that Sammy Johnson's role was somehow cut off?

I feel like there was a lot to this character than meets the eye.

He first appeared as a drunkard who is cause for troubles.

Perhaps to add another twist to the fate of Moxey's saga alright.

But then out of the blues, the drunkard became an honest working gadgey!

He is only looking for an honest day's graft and a clean quid.

The lads then don't want him in a la McGowan of series 1

He then says Mr Frasier has booked him a place on the plane, see you at the airport!

but then no mention is made of him afterwards, zilch, gone!

Do you think there was more to this character (replacement for Wayne?) or so?

I feel sorry we didn't see more of him, he was a better actor than many ... let's put it that way.

I always saw him as some young crackerjack who was bevvied up (ya knaa what they're like with drink in them...) - he was obviously more friendly and accomodating when sober and in need of work. Born headbanger though.

And they do kind of wrap the storyline up - in the restaurant after Moxey's return someone (Dennis??) says he'll tell "that Martin gadgey" the bad news.

I watched that episode again, and still think that there had been plans .. but never realised.
Den had already told Martin the bad news at the bar, didn't he?
Also, the way Martin spoke when he said he needed the job meant he would be at the airport.
Also there was no ticket for Moxey, where has that come from?
There also WAS a ticket for Martin, otherwise he wouldn't have said "See you at the airport"!

If you study the way Ally said: "that's mine" to Wayne, and the face he made!
you would have thought he was going to sack Wayne at one point.

I guess it has lots to do with the sequence of shooting, don't you?

I'm not sure if anymore could have been done with Martin. He was in that episode so it could wrap up the Moxey situation.

But, the scenes he was in are great! "I've been down the Vic!"

Dont think they needed individual tickets. Being on a group ticket with the OAPs, just needed their passports. So even if Martin had have shown up, Dennis would have told him he wasnt needed after all. [ or just piss off !]
As for Wayne flirting with Vicki, that explains Ally's comment to Dennis, "Im already worried about wives and Waynes going out there !"

Sammy was a very dear and close friend of Oz. Food for thought.

Just to confuse you all even more, being Scottish, the slang for children is actually WEANS, so it would be pronounced the same as Wayne. :D

Like last year when we went to Sporting Lisbon... 3 of the lads haven't been seen since

Also adding support to this theory is Moxey wouldn't have been down as Moxey, he would have been Brendan but travelled as Francis in the end, so names not needed

if that's the case how comes Ally's saying 6 tickets and not 7?
if it was a matter of anyoneToGo he wouldn't have bothered, would he?
