whatever happened to the likely casino dollar?

The lads were promised a slice of the casino income.
They finished the job, handed the keys, and were seen off with a celebration.

How comes the fourth series Den was skint and they couldn't afford nowts?

Maybe the casino wasn't making any money, despite the new bridge.

Or it could be that most of the profit from the casino for the first few years was used to pay off the bridge construction and other costs, and then after that the lads would get their slice.

one thing is for sure ... the whole thing was done in a haste and to fullfill certain purposes.
for instance, the bit in the US .. to have Yank sales ... (make a lot of money ya knaah?)
the drag queen bit .. to improve the image of homosexuals/xvestites
the bit about the Yogoslavian, British guilt towards Bosnia, Kosova .. etc
So there was an agenda in the back of their minds ticking ..
and that's why series 2 was perhaps written on the spot just to be acted and aired straight off.

that's just me thinking loudly.

Good points. IMO there's a lot of horrible 'worthy' stuff in series 3 they could have done without. As well as some cringey attempts to make the lads (middle aged men by now) sound modern and 'with it' - the references to Destinys Child, Halle Berry, Ally McBeal etc. I'm glad they dropped all that in the Cuban series - another reason I prefer it to series 3. It seems less forced.

As Nev said right at the end, 'We went into this to make a killing, but in the end it wasn't about the money'.

As they were on a cut of the profits, presumably they were receiving a monthly 'wage' from the Casino, certainly not a fortune & it would have taken a while to just recoup what they laid out. As Dennis laid out nowt in the first place, his would likely have been less than the others. Whatever Neville got from the venture would have probably gone straight to the VAT man, Bomber's probably to his kids, Barry's - well who knows the state of his finances post-divorce...

And Moxey's? Who knows? Has anybody got a shovel???

Didn't they say in series 3 that the money might take a while to come through but a percentage is better then nothing.

First off,Joe said "I wouldn't insult you guys with less" (£1 million),and at the end,he's saying cost+20%(?) might be a little rich for his people.

That offer was when they thought they owned the bridge, turned out they didn't rendering the 1m irrelevant.
