As a first time visitor...

"Is there anything to do around here?"

"Where do we eat in Newcastle?"

Any tips lads?

Depends what you like. The Tyne and Wear Metro will take you around the city centres of Newcastle, Gateshead and Sunderland.

Newcastle has Lots and lots of pubs. Down by The Quayside can be expensive to get a drink. You could visit The Gate which has a cinema, pubs and a quite a few places to eat in and also China Town is behind it which also has a lot of restaurants. Northumberland Street is the main shopping area. Gateshead doesn't have as much (I suppose you could stand in front of the angel of the North for a good three minutes until you get board). But the Metro Centre in Gateshead is the largest indoor mall in Europe or so I've been told and it is nice inside.

Also there are several coats you can visit all on the Metro route, I'd recommend South Shields. If you wanted to visit more historical stuff there are a few National Trust sites close by and there are museums in all cities.

There's also a few strip joints.......I only know because I've been getting guitar lessons next door.
