Dennis's Vera
I never liked Vera much, thought she treated Dennis pretty badly, especially when she just turned up in Germany expecting Dennis to take her back. Obviously her relationship with Berwick Kaler had failed, but I thought she shouldn't have assumed dennis was single. I always thought he should have made a go of it with Dagmar, only of course if she shaved her armpits!

Re: Dennis's Vera
I would like to have known what would have happened in Series 2, if Caroline Hutchison, had a been well enough to be in it. Norma and Christine were brought in to fill the gap, but it would have been good to see her in it.

Re: Dennis's Vera
One thing I have been wondering, is about what scenes were filmed first, and I think we can assume now, that Neville and Brenda in bed, when he's listening to the football, could have been filmed early on. Neville does actually say...."I'll stay home and cook the Sunday dinner for you and Vera..." buts its dubbed to Norma, so they wouldn't have known at this point that she wasn't well enough to be in Series 2.

Re: Dennis's Vera
Maybe it was out of respect for Caroline but if the character Vera was meant to be in Series 2 and they already started filming (i.e. dubbing what Neville says) I would have thought it would have been easier to bring in a similar actress to play the part as opposed to re-writing the whole script.Auf Wiedersehen, Pet wrote:I would like to have known what would have happened in Series 2, if Caroline Hutchison, had a been well enough to be in it. Rewrites after Caroline becoming ill and then Gary tragically passes on and not to forget the 'strike' issues. Healy in hospital after car crash outside Beesthorpe Hall and didn't a crew member fell down an undiscovered well in the grounds? It's a miracle they got it in the can.

I've got a question here, what was the strike going on?RHill wrote:Rewrites after Caroline becoming ill and then Gary tragically passes on and not to forget the 'strike' issues. Re: Dennis's Vera
The strikes were because the electricians etc were in a strop about moving to Nottingham from Elstree, to be fair a lot of the time they worked but it was 'to rule', so come 6pm they'd down tools regardless of whether or not the work was done!
