Re: Recommend Me Something To Watch!
It was good, quite shocking in places. I found it more of a sad drama than comedy but I really enjoyed it. I think Gervais is a tremendous writer.

Watched ep 2 of don't forget the driver last nite. Still good. Started two doors down from the beginning afterwards. Still gets a good few laughs.

I've watched the first 4 episodes of Don't forget the driver on Lou's recommendation. I'm finding it ok. Might have given up if it wasn't for Toby Jones in it.

Re: Recommend Me Something To Watch!
Finally got chance to watch it yesterday and loved it. Managed to hold in the tears until he puts the puppy on the bed and then I was gone. Brilliantly written and acted.Auf Wiedersehen, Pet wrote: ↑Tue Apr 16, 2019 8:51 pmIt was good, quite shocking in places. I found it more of a sad drama than comedy but I really enjoyed it. Re: Recommend Me Something To Watch!
I’ve just watched Men Behaving Badly from S2 to the end, it’s now on Netflix. Absolutely loved it then and now.

There is quite a few similar jokes to AWP. Plus in the final episodes, they go to Worthing and Tony asks Deborah if she’s seen Quadrophenia......

Re: Recommend Me Something To Watch!
This sounds really sad but we have started watching George and Mildred!

Re: Recommend Me Something To Watch!
I just finished watching Back to Life on the BBC iPlayer. It's about a woman who has just been released from prison for murder, but she doesn't know why the person she killed was so angry with her on the night it happened.
There's a bit of sex and swearing in it, mind. I think it's disgusting on a Sunday.

It's not sad that you have found one of the UKs best loved sit coms of its time.
Don't forget about 'Man about the house' where George and Mildred Roper first appeared, it's as good if not better.
George and Mildred was adapted in the United States as The Ropers, a spin-off from Three's Company which was adapted from Man about the house.
There aren't many comedy spin offs that live up to the original idea.
There aren't many classic British shows which survive the atlantic crossing and are successful.
Favourite George quotes
When Mildred finally got to have her wicked way with him and he said "Be gentle with me Mildred"
When he mentions Mildred's maiden name - 'Mildred Roper, nee (knee) Trembler'.
AWP related fact
Brian Pringle (good old Arthur) appeared and paid tribute, on 'This is your life' when Michael Aspel presented Brian Murphy (George) with the red book.
There can be no higher praise than that.
Re: Recommend Me Something To Watch!
Speaking of This is Your Life, were any of the Auf Pet cast ever given the big red book?
Re: Recommend Me Something To Watch!
I've found a website with all the recipients, and had a quick look.
Tim Healy was given the Big Red Book on 16 February 1998, his then-wife Denise Welch got one the following year.
Kevin Lloyd was honoured in 1992.
That's all I could find.
